Hello Folks,
One more night of planning for my trip and I am off like a rocket. Tonight is going to be tight getting everything I need together. I will be doing a lot of camping, which will require some forethought on my part when doing the final packing.
But first, I wanted to tell you about my latest green smoothie. Truthfully, it was not my favorite version and I will tell you why. First of all, I didn’t have any soymilk, which I almost always put in my smoothie. I started with 2 cups of water and added a cucumber fresh from the garden; then I stuffed a ton of chard in there and blended it.
It looked like a thick soup of chopped up green stuff. It had very little flavor at that point and the texture was funny. I decided to add some fruit to balance it out. I put in frozen strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and bananas. But first, before I put in the frozen fruit I poured out some of the green stuff, because the cuisenart was pretty full and I needed more room. After I added the fruit, though, the consistency was the same, but the flavor was much better.
Where I made a mistake was when I decided to add the green stuff I had poured out earlier back into the drink,to make it larger so it would last all day, thinking it would taste about the same.
It really made the consistency funny, because the stuff I poured out was the most “grainy” of anything else. I felt like cow chewing on blackberry flavored lettuce. A funny experience no doubt. I think next time I will not put as much chard in it and try other vegetables.
